How to Move Better

Most people don’t realise how stuck they are until they begin to move well again.

In a world of repetitive movement, desk posture, and isolated gym training, your body can gradually become more restricted, uncoordinated, and disconnected from its natural flow. You might feel “tight,” clumsy, or like you’re constantly working against your own body.

🔓 What Does It Mean to “Move Better”?

To move better is to:

  • Coordinate movement efficiently and naturally

  • Activate the correct muscles in the right sequence

  • Respond quickly and smoothly to changes in direction, balance, or effort

  • Feel light, stable, and connected throughout your movements

Whether you’re returning to sport, trying to stay active as you age, or simply want to feel stronger and freer in your body — improving how you move is one of the most powerful things you can do.


Start with the Nervous System: Be-Activated

In my practice, I use the Be-Activated systema cutting-edge approach that works directly with the nervous system to switch on the body’s ideal muscle firing patterns.

Most people are walking around in compensation. Their diaphragm isn’t firing. Their psoas is overworked. Their glutes are asleep. So they rely on tension, force, and effort to move — and it wears them down.

Using Be-Activated techniques, we reset the body’s primary movement zones (1-2-3) to fire in the correct order:

  1. Diaphragm

  2. Psoas and glutes

  3. Upper body and peripheral movers

The results are often immediate — smoother movement, more power, better posture, and less tension.


🎯 The Brain-Body Connection: Vestibular & Sensory Activation

Another key piece of the puzzle is your vestibular systemyour body’s internal balance and orientation system. It tells your brain where you are in space and how to respond.

When this system is under-stimulated (as it often is in adults), your coordination, balance, and reflexive strength suffer. That’s why I incorporate vestibular drills and eye-tracking exercises that “wake up” the brain and reconnect it to your physical movements.

These may look simple — head nods, visual tracking, balance drills — but the impact on coordination and reaction time is profound.


🌐 Movement Should Be Varied, Not Repetitive

One of the major lessons from David Fleming and the AMN Academy is that the human body was designed to move in complex, varied ways — not just front-to-back or up-and-down.

When we restore multi-planar, diverse movement, the brain feels more safe, the body becomes more resilient, and injuries drop dramatically. Movement should include:

  • Rotation

  • Crawling patterns

  • Floor transitions

  • Playful, reactive motion

  • Strength under changing tension

When your body is exposed to this kind of movement, flexibility, stability, and energy improve across the board.
