How to Train Smarter in Your 30s and 40s for Strength & Longevity

Ah you might as well give up

You’re too old

Why would you bother?

You’re in your 40’s – that back pain is a sign that your body can’t hack it anymore.

You’ll have to stop trying to get fit.

To run that marathon

There’s Netflix at home

There’s that beer or glass of wine

Let’s just sit on the sofa and watch TV.

You’re obviously not what you were.

Let’s just give up.

Well hold on a sec.

That little devil on your shoulder is speaking there.

And it’s talking b@#lo?£s!

In my last post, I talked about your attitude to training

And your attitude to your own capabilities.

You should go back and read it if you haven’t already done so.

Now I m not saying that your body does not become weaker and more broken over the years

It has – that’s aging for you.

But here it is

We can still get better performance into our 30’s and 40’s.

“Oh yeah right!” you might be scoffing.

Well ok but hear me out

You just have to understand your body.

And this does take experience.

And a lot of trial and error.

We need to understand this bit because our bodies are not robust enough to put up with everything we put it through in our 20’s.

Not everything we did in our 20’s was helping us.

Our bodies were more resilient back then.

We could put it through hell back then.

Now we are older and less resilient, we need to understand what was hurting us.

And on the flip side, what things does your body benefit from?

What things energise you and make you feel good?

And when I mean “things”, I mean:

What is the best food for us to eat?

What thoughts make us feel good?

What movements and exercises make us feel strong, loose and light?

Alternatively we must understand the food, the thoughts and exercises that make us feel sluggish and weak.

It’s possible to still thrive and perform in sports into your 40’s

But you’ve got to learn about your body first.

If you live in Somerset and you would like to understand more about how to train into your 40’s

and more importantly – still thrive.

Why not book in a FREE 15 mins call with me to discuss this?

I can point you in the right direction and help you identify the good and the bad habits you have.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Andy 😉
